The Wheat Quality Council Winter Wheat Tour wrapped up last week. What did we learn?
The yardsticks and muck boots have returned to their respective closets. The Wheat Quality Council’s annual Winter Wheat Tour wrapped up May 19.
A total of 84 tour participants from every sector of the wheat industry — farmers, merchandisers, millers, bakers, government agencies and public institutions — traveled across the state and back for three days of crop scouting and networking. As Dave Green, executive director of the Wheat Quality Council, says, the tour is just as much about scouting the crop as it is teaching those new to the wheat industry about the crop, from the ground up.
