Governor of Iowa Kim Reynolds as well as state directors of agriculture to also be on stage over the noon hour.
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will make his first ever visit to the Farm Progress Show on Tuesday, Aug. 30. Vilsack will be on the ADM Stage in the Wallaces Farmer Hospitality Tent at 6th and Central at 11:30 a.m. Vilsack will address farmers and discuss upcoming climate-smart agriculture investments.
Climate investments received a significant boost with the recent passage of the Inflation Reduction Act which includes $20 billion for farmers to use for the expansion of oversubscribed conservation programs to fund climate-smart actions farmers take. Vilsack is anticipated to make further announcements and build on previous investments made in the bipartisan infrastructure bill advanced in 2021.
Vilsack, and Iowa native and longest-serving agriculture secretary, will offer opening comments on the Biden administration actions on the climate front as well as visit with This Week in Agribusiness Host Max Armstrong and Farm Progress Policy Editor Jacqui Fatka.
Also on the stage on Tuesday is Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds and Rep. Randy Feenstra, R-Iowa, followed by 10 state agriculture leaders. State ag leaders includes Arkansas Secretary of Agriculture Wes Ward, Illinois Deputy Director of Agriculture Kristi Jones, Indiana State Department of Agriculture Director Bruce Kettler, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig, Kansas Secretary of Agriculture Mike Beam, Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Director Gary McDowell, Missouri Director of Agriculture Chris Chinn, Nebraska Assistant Director of Agriculture Cicely Wardyn, North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring and South Dakota Secretary of Agriculture Hunter Roberts.
Reyolds and Feenstra will also be back on the stage at 2 p.m. on Tuesday for a more in-depth conversation on their actions and priorities for farmers to hear.
